What are you saying that's hurting you?

Just a few thoughts before I go to bed.  I was buying a plant at a neighborhood plant sale on Friday and the lady that was having the sale had forgotten something and I heard her say "I guess it's my alzheimer's."  She actually said it a couple of times and I just couldn't stop myself from saying to her that she really shouldn't be saying things like that because she'll end up living up to it.  Of course that opened up a whole conversation with the three people that were there.  I explained to her that when we say things like "I can't remember anything," or "I forget everything," or anything similiar to that, it ends up being fulfilled.  Just like the bible says, "as a man thinketh,"   I'm sure you've also heard the saying "what we think about, comes about," or "what we fear, we draw near."

For years, my Mother would say "I don't do well in the mornings."  Guess what, she didn't do well in the mornings.  Josephine, my wonderful sister-in-law's mother told my Mom one time the answer to her problem was "just don't get up until noon."  I thought that was pretty funny, but I promise you, that was not the solution.

I know you know where I'm going with this, so I'll keep it short.  Anytime you catch yourself saying something like "I don't remember" or "I don't do well with math" (which is something I seem to say quite a bit), well, I'm human, too, or "it's my altzheimer's kicking in", please, please, please stop right then and there and turn it around and say just the opposite.  Keep doing that each and every time and before long you'll see the change, it's pretty amazing how it works.  I promise I'll do it, if you will.......  Good night for now.

Oh, one more thing, and I know this won't make some people happy, but it also happens when you talk about an illness or a disease or chronic pain, or anything of that nature.  Whether it's something in the past or the present, every time you mention it or think about it, even in casual conversation, you're either living up to it or you're bringing it about.  More later................

I've been avoiding starting a blog because it's hard for me to just write.  I have to write, then read it, then write some more, then read it, etc., etc., etc., you get the idea.  So it turns into a chore rather than a pleasant kind of a thing.  However,  it occurred to me when we were on our way to San Antonio (actually Marion, but I'm sure no one knows where Marion is) last Saturday to spend Mother's Day with my wonderful mother-in-law, yes, you heard that right, wonderful.  I know a lot of people that don't get along with their in-laws, but I have the best.  Anyway, as I was saying, it occurred to me that just maybe I'll try my hand at it because one of my passions is to help people understand that there are alternative methods for healing ourselves mentally, physically and spiritually.  That we don't have to  always turn to doctors and prescription drugs to feel better.  Actually, if we use alternative methods, we might not have to turn to doctors at all, wouldn't that be "mahvelous dahling!"  Do you remember who said that?  That's another idea, maybe I'll add a game, or puzzle to my blog to make it more interesting.  I'll save that for another time.

Anyway, as I was saying, we were taking this trip last weekend, I was driving (which means I was paying attention) and I realized that from our house (close to 290 and 1960) and I-10 and Katy, we drove past at least four hospitals and I'm sure there are more, we just didn't see them.  Two are in the process of being built and the other two are not that old.  I don't know about you, but that makes me think that there are a whole lot of sick people out there and that makes me really sad.  Have you read the statistics that the USA is the sickest nation in the world - that should make everyone sad.  So I ask, what in the world are we going to do about it?  Well I for one, am going to do my best to help educate you about the alternatives and then I'm going to help those that would like my help, because that's what I do.  I'm a holistic health practitioner and my passion is to help people get well through the use of alternative methods.
