A team of experts believe that they have found the essential ingredients to make a person's life happier. Based on best knowledge and research, the team came up with a 10-point plan for happiness listed below:
1. Plant something and nurture it. 2. Count your blessings - at least five - at the end of each day. 3. Take time to talk - have an hour-long conversation with a loved one each week. 4. Phone a friend whom you have not spoken to for a while and arrange to meet up. 5. Give yourself a treat every day and take the time to really enjoy it. 6. Have a good laugh at least once a day. 7. Get physical - exercise for half an hour three times a week. 8. Smile at and/or say hello to a stranger at least once each day. 9. Cut your TV viewing by half. 10. Spread some kindness - do a good turn for someone every day. How do you feel about these 10, do you think the list is complete? What would you add if it was your list? Please leave your comments below. Something that has been weighing on my mind for awhile now is the process of "letting go." While I was talking with one of my best friends one day not to long ago, I was saying how I wanted to accomplish so and so. I won't mention it here because it doesn't really matter. She told me I was trying too hard and that it wasn't my fault that I had not been able to accomplish it so far. That lead to quite a discussion, because, between you and me, sometimes it takes me a little while to "get it", if you know what I mean. Why isn't it my fault, it's my goal, right? I should be doing absolutely everything I can to make it happen. Oops, there's that word, "make." By George I think I've got it! What she was telling me is that I can't "make" it happen, or anything as far as that goes.
The way I understand it, the simple answer is to state what your desired outcome or goal is, either in the form of prayer or meditation, or whatever you use for that purpose. I, myself use prayer (not that that matters to anyone but me). So, I pray about what I want, and then let it go, trusting that Heavenly Father will do his part and see that it happens. I'm going to put a little caviat here, and say, if it's in my highest and best interest. I know some of you are thinking why would we ask for something that is not in our highest and best interest. That's a good question, but, again in my opinion, sometimes we don't always ask for something that is good for us. I can't even give you an example, I just know it happens. In the meantime, I can't just sit back and wait for it to happen, I have to do my part, whatever that might be. The part that I haven't been doing so swell at is listening to what that little voice inside me is telling me to do. Some people call it intuition others call it something else, I call it the Spirit and then taking action. I'm going to leave it at that for now and pick it up here next time. In the meantime, my challenge to you (and myself) is to start writing down what that "little voice" is telling me and act on it. Have a wonderful week and please be sure and visit my website: www.theholisticway.net. I have talked about how important "words" are in our everyday life and how they affect us. It seems since I've been writing about this, it's more "in my face" than ever before. Everywhere I go I hear people saying things like "I can't remember anything", "my Mom or whomever has ____, fill in the blank, so I'm going to get it", "I get headaches all the time" etc., etc., etc. I told a lady the other day that she should be saying something like "I remember everything." Does that mean she'll remember everything, probably not, but she'll remember a whole lot more than if she says the other, right?
Then you have the people that say things like "be sure and put your coat on or you'll get sick", "be careful and don't fall, or you'll hurt yourself" and other similar statements about someone else. Guess what that does? You got it, it plants the idea in the head of the person hearing it. They go out the door or in the other room thinking the exact thing that was just said to them......wow! Now your words are having an affect on someone else. I don't know about you, but I don't want that responsibility. I personally have been practicing the "I remember everything" myself and can really tell a difference. When I do have a challenge with remembering something, I simply say, "let me think about it a minute and I'll remember" and 9 times out of 10, I do. So I'm not suggesting that you to do something I'm not doing myself. Do I do that all the time, no, I don't, but I am working at becoming more aware of what I say (or think) and the affects it has on my life, as well as others. When I find myself saying or thinking something that is not in keeping with this, I stop and correct myself. It gets easier the more I do it, so it will get easier for you, as well. I challenge all of you to start really thinking about what you are saying and the affect it has on you or someone else, and turn the negative statements into positive ones. I'd love to hear from you about the results you're having. Have a great weekend. We just returned from 10 wonderful days in NorthWest Arkansas and Southern Missouri. We spent the first few days in Branson, MO with my brother and sister-in-law, then back to Bella Vista, AR to spend some time with our oldest son and granddaughter, Mathilda. That was really nice to be able to spend time with them. We also got to see a lot of friends at church and meet up with some close friends and that was great, too. Then we finished off the 10 days with a visit to Hot Springs, AR and a soak in the natural hot spring/mineral water that they're famous for. I have to tell you, that was wonderful. I wish we had something like that around the Houston area, I'd be there every week. It's certainly good for what ails you. One of the best things about it, it only cost $18.00 a piece for as long as you want to stay. Wow, what a deal!
After the long holiday weekend, it's going to be focus, focus, focus for me so I can get both my businesses up and running. This one of course is my passion because I'm able to help a lot of people with their "health" challenges. However, I have to say the other one is my passion too, because I'm able to help a lot of people with their "wealth" challenges. Please check it out: www.freegroceries4all.com. I'm all about helping others get what they want. I guess there's a little selfishness in that because the law of attraction says if you help enough people get what they want, you end up getting what you want. Isn't that wonderful. It's a win-win situation for everyone. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. Till next time....... It's been way too long again between posts. I've been working most every day for the Census now for over 4 months and have been doing very little of what I'm passionate about and that's helping others thru my "healing" work. Some of you may not like that term because you believe that there is only one "healer." I absolutely agree with you, in my opinion, there is only one "healer" and you know who I'm talking about...... Jesus Christ. At least that's my belief. However, I also believe that He has helpers, assistants, or whatever you would like to call us and that's what I am, as well as a lot of my friends. So instead of saying we're
assistant healers, we shorten it and call ourselves healers. Anyway, what I was saying is that I've been doing very little of what I'm passionate about and I can really tell the difference. I don't feel the same and I"m sure I don't act the same when I haven't been doing my healing work. I know that when I'm helping someone else, I'm also helping myself because it all has to do with the flow of positive energy. I made a decision that I cannot go for any period of time, like a week, without either helping someone in need, or even myself because it truly is life changing. Have a great week and I challenge each of you to perform some random act of kindness every day, which could even include smiling at someone. It's way past time to post again, so here I am. My last post was about being careful what you talk about or think about so that you don't bring it about. This one is similar but a little bit different. This one has to do with labeling oneself or how we identify with ourselves. In other words, you are (whatever your first name is). You are not ADHD, or poor, or stupid. I think you get the point. I find that many people stop themselves because they identify with what they have or what they're struggling with or where they came from, rather than who they really are. Maybe if I give you an example, it will make more sense. This happened to someone very close to us that was in a situation that they were not used to. Instead of digging in and working thru it, they chose to use the I can't do this because I have......... You can fill in the blanks with anything you want. The way I look at things, well most of the time because I'm as guilty of doing what I'm talking about as you are, I am Ginny Vasquez and I can do anything I set my mind to do. I truly believe that everyone, not just a chosen few, can do absolutely that, anything they make up their minds to do. I work on myself all of the time with this and that's what I can help you with. I can help you change your limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs thru the use of PSYCH-K or The Emotion Code. Read more about it on my website: www.theholisticway.net.
Remember I told you I would write more about our thoughts. What we don't realize is exactly how our thoughts affect us physically. Say for instance you have, or have had something serious wrong with you, chronic pain, cancer, fibromyalgia. You get the picture. Okay, now you're talking with one of your friends and you're telling your friend how tired you are, or how much you're hurting, or how you once had a major medical issue, whatever it might have been, the name doesn't really matter, the point is you're discussing it with your friend now. Okay, now multiply that by how many similar conversations you have over the course of, we'll say a month. 5, 10, 15, I don't know, Do you see where I'm going with this? Remember in my last post, I made the statement what you "think about comes about" or "as a man thinketh."
Someone said to me, I'm just stating the facts. I agree with that, but you are stating them over and over and over again. Your subconscious does not know the difference between what has been in the past and what will be in the future. Your subconscious deals in the now . When you say "I used to have ................., you fill in the blank, all your subconscious hears is I have ......... If you say it often enough, guess what the outcome is? I'm as guilty of this as you are, so I'm working on myself all of the time. Sometimes I don't even realize what kind of damage I'm doing to me. It takes lots of practice to change what we've been thinking and subsequently doing to ourselves and it all starts with awareness. I can help you get started. All you have to do is ask me and I'll be glad to show you some ways to do it. Have a great day and call me if you would like my help. Just a few thoughts before I go to bed. I was buying a plant at a neighborhood plant sale on Friday and the lady that was having the sale had forgotten something and I heard her say "I guess it's my alzheimer's." She actually said it a couple of times and I just couldn't stop myself from saying to her that she really shouldn't be saying things like that because she'll end up living up to it. Of course that opened up a whole conversation with the three people that were there. I explained to her that when we say things like "I can't remember anything," or "I forget everything," or anything similiar to that, it ends up being fulfilled. Just like the bible says, "as a man thinketh," I'm sure you've also heard the saying "what we think about, comes about," or "what we fear, we draw near."
For years, my Mother would say "I don't do well in the mornings." Guess what, she didn't do well in the mornings. Josephine, my wonderful sister-in-law's mother told my Mom one time the answer to her problem was "just don't get up until noon." I thought that was pretty funny, but I promise you, that was not the solution. I know you know where I'm going with this, so I'll keep it short. Anytime you catch yourself saying something like "I don't remember" or "I don't do well with math" (which is something I seem to say quite a bit), well, I'm human, too, or "it's my altzheimer's kicking in", please, please, please stop right then and there and turn it around and say just the opposite. Keep doing that each and every time and before long you'll see the change, it's pretty amazing how it works. I promise I'll do it, if you will....... Good night for now. Oh, one more thing, and I know this won't make some people happy, but it also happens when you talk about an illness or a disease or chronic pain, or anything of that nature. Whether it's something in the past or the present, every time you mention it or think about it, even in casual conversation, you're either living up to it or you're bringing it about. More later................ I've been avoiding starting a blog because it's hard for me to just write. I have to write, then read it, then write some more, then read it, etc., etc., etc., you get the idea. So it turns into a chore rather than a pleasant kind of a thing. However, it occurred to me when we were on our way to San Antonio (actually Marion, but I'm sure no one knows where Marion is) last Saturday to spend Mother's Day with my wonderful mother-in-law, yes, you heard that right, wonderful. I know a lot of people that don't get along with their in-laws, but I have the best. Anyway, as I was saying, it occurred to me that just maybe I'll try my hand at it because one of my passions is to help people understand that there are alternative methods for healing ourselves mentally, physically and spiritually. That we don't have to always turn to doctors and prescription drugs to feel better. Actually, if we use alternative methods, we might not have to turn to doctors at all, wouldn't that be "mahvelous dahling!" Do you remember who said that? That's another idea, maybe I'll add a game, or puzzle to my blog to make it more interesting. I'll save that for another time.
Anyway, as I was saying, we were taking this trip last weekend, I was driving (which means I was paying attention) and I realized that from our house (close to 290 and 1960) and I-10 and Katy, we drove past at least four hospitals and I'm sure there are more, we just didn't see them. Two are in the process of being built and the other two are not that old. I don't know about you, but that makes me think that there are a whole lot of sick people out there and that makes me really sad. Have you read the statistics that the USA is the sickest nation in the world - that should make everyone sad. So I ask, what in the world are we going to do about it? Well I for one, am going to do my best to help educate you about the alternatives and then I'm going to help those that would like my help, because that's what I do. I'm a holistic health practitioner and my passion is to help people get well through the use of alternative methods. |
